The sheer joy of Saturday mornings

Proof weekdays build to something beautiful
Let's be honest, weekdays are… well, they're the engine of our lives. They’re when we build, create, connect, and yes, pay those bills. But then, like a reward for navigating the week, the weekend arrives, bringing with it the glorious, almost unbelievable phenomenon of Saturday morning. It’s a precious pocket of time where the usual rules of engagement… well, they just don't apply. And frankly, we deserve every blessed second of it.

For most sane individuals, Saturday morning initiation begins with what can only be described as extended horizontal negotiations. Staying in bed isn't just a lifestyle choice, it's a statement. You are consciously choosing to step off the usual rhythm of the week, at least for a few blissful hours. The outside world? Let it gently percolate. Right now, you are embracing the wonderful feeling of having nowhere you have to be. And isn't that delightful?
Now, we must acknowledge the existence of the early bird, of which I am one in select seasons. These are the individuals who find pure joy in things like "fresh air" and "exercise" before 9 am on a Saturday. They are out there, jogging with cheerful energy, claiming it's invigorating. These individuals are embracing the morning in its freshest form, without the usual pressures of the daily grind. My fiancé is one of these year-round Saturday runners, which I happily support so long as he brings me a coffee in bed while I read, write, catch up on life stuff (for lack of a better word), all while he pushes the limits on his (dare I say) aging knees - to each their own brand of Saturday morning magic.
Saturday morning isn't just a time of day; it's a weekly reboot of your very soul. It’s permission to operate at your own pace, on your own terms, without the structure of the week guiding your every move. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most wonderful thing you can do is simply… engage with the morning exactly as you please.
So, however you choose to navigate your Saturday mornings – horizontal, vertical, or somewhere delightfully in between – make sure you curate them for maximum joy. Because in the quiet freedom of a Saturday morning, we rediscover the simple pleasure of… well, not being on a schedule dictated by anyone else. And in this busy modern age, that, my friends, is a victory worth celebrating.
